Ashley E. Gorham


Ashley E. Gorham is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Values and Public Policy at Princeton University.

A political theorist committed to bringing the tradition of political thought to bear on contemporary political issues, she has published multiple articles on democracy in the "information age." Currently, she is completing a book project, Hacktivism: Democracy on the Internet, which examines the hacktivism of WikiLeaks, Electronic Disturbance Theater, and Anonymous, through the lens of democratic theory. In 2019, she earned a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, where she received the Dean’s Award for Distinguished Teaching by a Graduate Student. Past affiliations include the Information Law Institute at New York University’s School of Law, the Andrea Mitchell Center for the Study of Democracy at Penn, and Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society.
